As “The SMILE LaDy,” I try to help yOUR child tap into their inner SMILE. Everyone is here for a purpose and it is our job as a community to bring out the best in our children helping them work in their purpose, and the sooner we get it back the better off the World will be. There are *NINE Basic needs for ALL Human Beings, and we must learn how to request and fulfill our needs in a non-threatening manner. It truly takes a village. As Mother Theresa said, “A person’s life should be better because they met you”

As a Mother of Five Grown Children and Grandmother of Seven, I have a stake in the future. I believe you must work your purpose until it is over. Currently I am a Mentor to Students in the School District. In addition, the SMILE program enhances School Programs providing support for teachers and or parents/guardians. I am proud to be an Educational Surrogate in the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD – California). In addition, I am an Associate Member of the Tournament of Roses, Local PTSA Member, NAACP Altadena Member, Black Child development, and California Association for the Education of Young Children and a Student working towards a Degree in Education and Forensic Social Work. As a member of HearZero Deaf Advocates, I am learning American Sign Language (ASL), with a goal of teaching it in the near future; this helps me connect with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Culture. I sincerely believe communication and learning about all cultures around you is crucial for a peaceful, happy society. “As I learn, I teach “Mary McLeod Bethune. Our goal is not to be “Color Blind” but “Culturally Aware.” SMILE works in colors, because the World is not just Black and White! The SMILE Haven is a place to feel safe and creative, because no child is dumb or BAD! There may be challenges, and we have to deal with each challenge according to the child! Focus on the positive, love what they do, Education – skill is key, and set personal goals (journal), No TWO classes are identical.
